"Over the past five years I have been concentrating on producing lithographs and serigraphs that combine texts and images as studies of the different states of being in the City. I am inspired by the urban environment of downtown Vancouver, where I live and work. I derive my inspiration from the streets and the edifices that define urbanism - alleyways, fire escapes and security gates.
My artistic practice utilizes found media, archival images and original photography. My most recent body of work entitled, “bullets”, are serigraphs of found shell casings. The works explores the unique typography inherent to each bullet’s make and model, and incorporates the gun’s strike point mark as yet another textual layer. The inks chosen for the serigraphs are references to 1960’s pop art and the commodification of symbols of violence by the mainstream media.
